Blogger2 but make it joyful again
Today is the second blog post I will create. This blog is meant for anyone who comes across it to hopefully gain insight into being a fulltime working person and an owner of a business. It is all my own opinions about both aspects of my life and I hope along the way you’ll laugh and maybe learn something too. I am afterall an educator. Sometimes life gets heavy.
I took time away from social media posting, but not scrolling. In fact, I am pretty sure my scrolling increased. Consuming the media like I hadn’t before. I had plenty of things to do, but alas the doom scrolling took over my free time a lot. It can get tricky when all you want to do is turn off your mind after it has been going nonstop all day.
However, yesterday I was listening to a podcast and heard then thought about something interesting. “You might have a joy deficiency” (this podcast was talking about breaking bad habits.) This was definitely probably true (for me) for the last couple of months. The doom scrolling taken over, but the weather, life events, and many other factors had also played apart.
A joy deficiency is not having any or enough moments that bring you joy to help produce that seratonin. It makes sense. Like maybe I am enjoying some things in life, but not enough. I always feel the need to take a step back and examine everything like a blueprint of what has been going on in my life to fix it. This is the Virgo in me. However, I just really need to remember I have choices, as we all do. I can get up and make a cute little drink or try a new cookie recipe just like the next person. I can try my hand at a new way to include my audience on social media in my life or try a new way to send out social media posts. The things that make us happy or bring us joy might be little to others, but it is not for them.
I also want to thank the Netflix show “With Love, Meghan,” for also reminding me of the details in the tasks that we enjoy and that they can make such a difference in our own lives. If you haven’t watched the show I 10/10 recommend! It’s light, fun, and just captured beautifully. Meghan does such a wonderful job of showing how various things bring her joy and can also bring us joy too. I loved it.
I am trying to add more moments of joy into my life and less doom scrolling. Even if social media is your job or something you enjoy, try to catch yourself before you start scrolling and it takes time off when you could be sleeping or enjoying the outdoors. Social Media is just on a screen, reality and being present in moments of life is really where we live.
